Activision has taken a position on the alleged leak. According to the publisher, there has never been a data leak.
In some cases it is said that there has been access and game progress has been deleted. The attackers also changed access in order to lock out account owners. Activion has contradicted the representations: There was never a compromise. Login data for over 500,000 accounts had been copied from Activision on September 20th. The hackers published the data and passwords in plain text, although it was not known whether the data was stored from the outset. It is not known whether the data was stored on the server or was only hacked and can now be decrypted very quickly.
Even if the account that launched the whole thing has now been deleted, the info has already been viewed as legit by some reliable leakers and dataminers. The company has not yet officially commented on the hacking rumors.
You Can Set A New Passport
You should also repeat this process for all websites on which you use the same email or password – especially if the email stored in the account uses the same code. However, some users on social media report that Activision has currently deactivated the password change – possibly to forestall the hackers who could take over your account. You can still set a new password.
Hackers can be really annoying and spoil the fun for players, but even if you think they are the trouble of the gamer community: it can be even more nasty. Some streamers explain that their Call of Duty – Modern Warfare account has been taken over by a stranger and they no longer have access to it. When they wanted to play the game , they were asked to log into their Activision account again. This has never happened before. Activision added they recommend that players take precautions to protect their accounts and suggested that their tips and step-by-step instructions on how to keep one’s account safe be followed. You can find the instructions here.
