The Segasec solutions complement the protection of customer domains and e-mail security

Mimecast acquires Segasec, a provider of cyber threat protection. With Segasec’s innovative technology, Mimecast customers can better protect themselves from attacks that use fake websites and domains for credential harvesting among customers, employees, partners and third parties within their supply chains.

Hackers who use well-known websites as bait to launch their attacks use sophisticated techniques against companies of all sizes and industries. With the acquisition of Segasec, Mimecast is able to use machine learning to protect against fire exploits and to identify potential hackers in the earliest stages of the attack. The solution was also developed to provide a way to actively monitor, manage, block and prevent phishing scams or attempts to impersonate people online.

The Key Zones To Protect The Email Security

The Segasec acquisition builds on Mimecast’s email security, which enables customers to protect their businesses in three key zones: To protect themselves from security threats that are trying to penetrate the business; for vulnerabilities and threats that exist within corporate perimeters; for attacks that occur outside the perimeter in the larger cybersphere. The integrated solution from Segasec was developed to expand Mimecast’s protection platform with a comprehensive concept for protection against digital threats, while at the same time expanding the central perimeter defense systems with information derived from the analysis of threats.

    A Technology That Restricts Data

Segasec’s technology was developed to monitor domains on the internet for suspected malicious activity and to continuously identify the most risky ones. Through machine learning and targeted scans that identify even unknown attack patterns, the solution can help both detect live attacks and detect upcoming attacks at the earliest possible point in time, so that customers can often prevent attacks completely. Segasec also offers fast shutdowns for active attacks and technologies that can restrict the use of stolen data.

By integrating Segasec into Mimecast’s email and web security services, potentially malicious domains can be quickly blocked. The integrated solution platform is designed to enable companies to implement a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that is able to deal with modern threats inside and outside the perimeter.
