Aggressive malware is worrying more and more Android users

XHelper is a new type of malware that seems to affect many Android users. Around 45,000 Android phones have been hacked thanks to security gaps.

In over 45,000 known cases, Android phones have been hacked using the latest malware. The new, but already notorious xHelper Trojan is said to be the source of all evil and the worst: it cannot be removed. Again and again the program installs itself independently and finds useful security gaps. If it is deleted, it will be back on your device a few minutes later.

The malware displays pop-up ads and notification spam. This brings income to the hackers. Prompts to install premium websites are also displayed. Some of these apps also include the xHelper Trojan. As soon as one of the infected applications is installed, xHelper is installed as a separate download. It is also no longer possible to remove the original application.

The Trojan Can Download Additional Malware, Hide Itself And Play Advertisements

In the past month, there were an average of 125 infected devices per day and an average of 2,500 devices that were constantly infected during the month, says the US software company Symantec, which is currently monitoring the development of the xHelper Trojan. It should be noted that MalwareBytes fixed the number of affected phones thanks to security holes, indicating a rapid increase in just over two months.

According to a media report, not even the simplest of all tricks against unwanted programs helps: resetting to factory settings. Even after this drastic step, xHelper can still be found in the system, even after removing the malware and locking apps from unknown sources, the program still appears. No solution is currently in sight. After all: So far, the malware only annoys with pop-up ads and spam, which brings in money to the people behind it. However, it is not clear whether this relatively harmless type of attack remains.
